Santa Cruz Bicycles was founded in 1994 in a space not much bigger than a two car garage at 104 Bronson Street in Santa Cruz, California. The Seabright Cannery industrial complex was also home to our compatriots at Santa Cruz Skateboards, RockShox, a surfboard shaper, two bakeries, a salsa company, multiple artists studios, a coffee roaster, a climbing gym, and other assorted riff-raff. Quite an eclectic, but very creative environment. Green practices: In 2016 our world headquarters in Santa Cruz, underwent a solar retrofit that included adding 1,100 panels to the top of the building and another 930 over the parking lot across the street. The resulting 80,000 square feet of solar panels generate almost all the energy required to run the factory—another step towards lowering our climate impact.
