Visitors can explore the sanctuary's remarkable marine environment as well as their personal role in protecting one of our nation's underwater treasures. Green practices: The Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary (MBNMS) provides resource protection through management, research, and education programs that foster public understanding and stewardship of this nationally significant marine ecosystem. The MBNMS opened a premiere interpretive center in Santa Cruz, CA on July 23rd of 2012. Certified through a Green Business Network program (Certified Level).
