Acterra is an environmental nonprofit serving the serving the 9-county San Francisco Bay Area. Our mission is to bring people together to create local solutions for a healthy planet. We do this by providing education and advocacy opportunities to further climate-friendly choices at home, at work, on the road, and in state and local policy. All of our work is solutions- and equity-oriented. Green practices: As an environmental nonprofit, Acterra has always been a showcase for good green practices. In 1993, Acterra’s early predecessor did a lighting retrofit and then in early 2000, before it was popular, a solar PV system was added to the building. Acterra was one of first to get certified as a green business in the county in 2002. Certified through a Green Business Network program (Certified Level).
