A nonprofit organization that provides food assistance to over 300,000 Alameda County residents each week through a network of more than 350 partner agencies, including food pantries, soup kitchens, child-care centers, and senior centers. Services include on-site meals, distribution of food bags, CalFresh (food stamp) outreach, a toll-free hunger helpline, and community education. Accepts food donations, especially canned fruit, vegetables, soup, meat, and fish; peanut butter, beans, pasta, and rice. Low-income residents may volunteer for three hours and receive a 15-pound bag of food. Call for details.
