The Alameda County Healthy Homes Department provides services to prevent lead poisoning and promote health and safety in the home. Programs include educating parents and medical providers, referring children for blood-lead screening, medical follow-up, case management, and training contractors and workers to safely abate lead in housing and soil. Free site evaluations are available to owners of pre-1978 residential properties in the cities of Alameda, Berkeley, Emeryville, and Oakland. Educational classes are also available.
