Since 1993, Brad Lancaster has operated a successful permaculture consulting, design, and education business focused on integrated and sustainable approaches to landscape design, planning, and living. Specializing in water harvesting, he shares innovations and daily adventures in striving to live more sustainably in the Sonoran Desert. At home, he and his brother harvest about 100,000 gallons of rainwater annually on a 1/8-acre urban lot and adjoining right-of-way, transforming it into a thriving landscape with food-bearing shade trees, abundant gardens, and wildlife habitat. Through his work, Brad has helped others create similar environments, enhancing water availability and beautifying neighborhoods by harvesting street runoff in adjacent tree wells.
